The Frederick County Sustainability Commission is partnering with Frederick Community College to host Toward a More Sustainable Frederick County - an event on October 16th, 9:00 to 3:00, at the FCC Conference Center. Frederick County continues to be a leader in the state and region, with sustainability initiatives in many areas. The County Executive is providing the key note address, along with the President of FCC and other community leaders. Small workshops provide for personal interaction among attendees and experts in many areas.
Sign-up in advance is required to plan for lunch which is included in the $49 registration through FCC ILR (Institute for Learning in Retirement, event #6141). More information is available at frederick.edu/QuickEnroll, by calling 301-624-2888, or in person at FCC, Jefferson Hall.
The 2015 Maryland & DC Tour of Solar and Green Homes occurs on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th. Over 60 homes, businesses, and other locations will be showcasing solar, geothermal, rain gardens, electric vehicles, and other green technologies. The tour spans a wide area in Maryland and DC and there are sure to be several homes near you.

Our fourth annual Green Homes Challenge Recognition will be held on February 25, 2015 at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center in downtown Frederick. All certfied households will be eligible to enter the drawing for great prizes from our sponsors and each certified household will receive an entry for each challenge you are certified in!
Beginning in summer 2014, Frederick County's Office of Sustainability & Environmental Resources (OSER) will be offering an expanded Neighborhood Green program to help eligible landowners create personalized plans for their properties that include native species of trees, shrubs, and grasses; beautiful rain gardens; water-saving rain barrels, and more!
